Vegvísir (Icelandic for wayfinder, and Vegrvísir in Old Norse) is an Icelandic magical stave best known from the Huld Manuscript of 1860. According to the manuscript, the Vegvísir helps its bearer find their way through rough weather, even when they don’t know where they are going. The symbol, however, is not found in earlier sources and there is no evidence it was used during the Viking Age.
That hasn’t stopped the Vegvísir from becoming a powerful modern symbol, deeply connected to guidance, protection, and the human spirit.
